quickbooks error locked ERROR: Record is locked

If you encounter the "Record is locked" error, it typically means you (or someone else in your company) has something open in Quickbooks while Quickbooks is trying to update it during the sync.

To fix this problem:

  • Make sure you have closed down any QB screens inside Quickbooks, including employees, jobs etc.  If QB has a screen open, it may lock down any changes, which can cause a error. 
  • If other users share your Quickbooks file, make sure they do the same
  • Try again

If you're still having problems, try the following:

  • Make sure all of your users are logged out of Quickbooks
  • Close down your Quickbooks company file (from your Quickbooks server) completely
  • Re-opening your company file
  • Try again
